Anthonia Adadevoh
Dr. Adadevoh, Dean of General Education, is Birmingham's unofficial ambassador of Nigerian culture. She co-founded a network that supports local Nigerian kids.

Mohit Anand
Dr. Anand, chair of the Business and Accounting Division, is from India. His research areas include economic incentives for growing bioenergy crops.

Alan Tharpe
Dr. Tharpe, an associate professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences, has lived in Japan and studied at Duke University.

Research That Matters
Dr. Esther Suswam, a professor in our Natural Science and Mathematics Department, is helping to help increase gender equity in STEM through a $1.2 million National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant awarded to Miles and two other historically black colleges.

Art That Inspires
Anthony Bingham, who teaches art and humanities at Miles, explores themes of African-American traditions, place, and buried memory through photography and sculpture. Earlier in his career, he spent time in South Africa as an artist-in-residence.
