From music and drama to philosophy, religion and many more offerings, the Humanities Division opens new worlds. Whether you major in English, music or theatre, you’ll graduate with creative, critical and collaboration skills—essential for careers in education, music production or performance, business, and much more.

Majors

  • Develop strong critical thinking and communication skills as you study across multiple literary genres. You’ll also apply a theoretical lens to look at the global, social, cultural and historical context in which major authors wrote.

Clubs & Organizations

Sigma Tau Delta, Alpha Lambda Mu Chapter

This English Honor Society is open to all English majors or minors with a sophomore rank and at least a “B” grade average. The group meets monthly to pursue projects related to literature and language arts.

MENC Collegiate Music Society

Through this chapter of the Music Educators National Conference, you’ll attend state and national conventions to access professional development, connect with practitioners in the field and learn about the latest advancements and innovations in music education.

MISA Collaborative

This collaboration between Miles College and Samford University School of the Arts supports students to interact with artists from across genres, produce and present theatrical productions, participate in workshops and present works that help tell the story of diversity in our community.

National Association for the Study and Performance of African American Music

Through advocacy, education and performance, NASPAAM provides leadership and motivation for educators, musicians and others interested in fostering the inclusion of African and African American music in education and society.
