Let's Get Started

At Miles, our first priority is you — and that starts now. If you're up for the challenge of working hard to become the change maker you want to be, we invite you to start your journey — whatever your background. We'll walk you through the application process. And if you still have questions, we're here to help out.

The first thing you need to know is our admissions deadlines. Make sure you complete your online application by the deadline for the semester you plan to start at Miles College.

Depending on which type of student you are (Freshman, Transfer, etc.), we'll ask to see some official records.

Orientation is required for all new students. Meet your new family!

Freshmen

Apply as a freshman if you'll be coming to Miles directly from a U.S. high school. The freshman application process is the same for online students.

  • Start your application online in the Miles Application Portal. You can save and come back to it at any time.

    Freshmen can also apply to Miles using the Common Black Application.

    We usually send a decision letter by mail within a week of your completed application. You can also check by logging in to the Miles Application Portal.

    Application Deadlines

     

    Fall Semester - Application deadline is August 2, 2022

    Spring Semester - Application deadline is January 10, 2022

    Summer Semester - Application deadline is June 1, 2022

     

  • Your application is considered complete when you have submitted the online application or Common Black Application, and we have received all required documents from you.

    Your documents checklist:

    • Official High School Transcript
    • Optional: Official ACT and/or SAT Scores. If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, contact the Miles Testing Center to schedule a date to take a placement test at 205-929-1824 or catcenter@miles.edu.

    Check whether we've received your documents by logging in to the Application Portal.

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, determines how much financial aid you'll receive from the federal government. It also determines state aid and some scholarships. You should complete the FAFSA even if you think you don't qualify for aid.

Transfer

You are a transfer student if you've graduated from high school and have college credits to transfer to Miles. The application process is the same for transfer students who plan to study online.

  • Start your application online in the Miles Application Portal. You can save and come back to it at anytime.

    We usually send a decision letter by mail within a week of your completed application. You can also check by logging in to the Miles Application Portal

  • Your application is considered complete when you have submitted the online application, and we have received all required documents from you.

    • Official High School Transcript only if you are transferring with fewer than 30 college hours
    • Official College Transcripts
    • Optional: Official ACT and/or SAT Scores. If you have not taken the ACT or SAT, contact the Miles Testing Center to schedule a date to take a placement test at 205-929-1824 or catcenter@miles.edu.

International

Miles College is a SEVIS-certified school. That means if you are accepted by Miles, you may be admitted to the United States with an F-1 student visa. This process can take a while, so we encourage international students to talk to us about admission one year in advance.

 

  • Start your application online in the Miles Application Portal. You can save and come back to it at anytime.

    We usually send a decision letter by mail within a week of your completed application. You can also check by logging in to the Miles Application Portal.

     

  • Your documents checklist:

    • An official copy of your high school and/or college transcripts. Ask you high school and/or college to send your transcript directly to Miles College. If your transcript is from a non- U.S. school, it should be translated before sending.
    • An official score report of your ACT or SAT test results from the National Testing Center. Our school code is 00128.
    • Your official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Your TOEFL score should be a 550 or higher on the paper test and a 80 or higher on the paper test. Your scores should be sent to Miles College.
    • Payment of a year’s Tuition and Fees in U.S. dollars by money order or certified check made payable to Miles College. This is required to receive the I-20 form.
    • An Affidavit of Financial Support from your sponsor and a recent copy of his/her bank statement.

Readmit

You are a readmit student if you previously attended Miles College.

 

  • Contact the Office of Admission at 205-929-1656 to update your application.
