MISA Collaborative: Two Birmingham institutions — Miles College and Samford University School of the Arts — have come together to advance cultural exchange. You’ll be empowered to interact with artists from across genres, produce and present theatrical productions, participate in workshops, and present works that help tell the story of diversity in our community.
Honor Societies and Academic Recognition
We invite our top students to join prestigious honor societies.
- Sigma Tau Delta (Alpha Lambda Mu Chapter). The International English Honor Society meets monthly to work on projects related to literature and language arts.
- Special awards for writing, research, and creative achievements.
Course Highlight
African American Literature II
Examine the voices, visions, and literary influence of African American writers from the Harlem Renaissance to the present day. You’ll use technology and data science techniques to explore literary figures, analyze sentiment, and understand culture and history as you study literature that explores themes of identity, resistance, migration, and cultural pride.
