Mathematics

About This Program

The Mathematics program at Miles College combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications. Critical thinking and quantitative reasoning  are important parts of the program.  As a Mathematics major, you'll not only study more advanced math. You’ll also develop a deeper understanding of how to apply what you’re learning — for example, by using statistics to evaluate the probability of an event occurring, or to analyze populations.

Build an important skill set that’s in high demand across industries, as well as the ability to think critically and problem-solve. Graduates from our Mathematics program go on to careers in engineering, education, and industry, and to Master’s programs in fields such as engineering and data science.

Course Highlight

Abstract Algebra
Have you ever wondered why numbers behave the way they do? Or what would happen if we redefined what a “number” even is? In this course, you’ll explore the deeper structures that make mathematics work — from the hidden rules that govern arithmetic to the creative ways we can build entirely new number systems. Discover the fundamental ideas that shape how we combine, compare, and understand numbers on a whole new level.
