Miles College Students Represent at National Healthcare Summit, Advancing Academic and Career Readiness
Students from Miles College recently participated in the Inspiring Futures Summit held on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University, where they engaged in a dynamic, hands-on learning experience centered on careers in healthcare. This participation directly supports Miles College’s mission to foster academic excellence, leadership, and service by providing students with immersive opportunities that prepare them to become compassionate professionals dedicated to serving their communities.
Taylor Jackson and Cameron Foley, accompanied by their advisor, JamesAaron L. Pierre Jr., represented the College with purpose and professionalism. Throughout the two-day summit, they explored a range of healthcare pathways while building meaningful connections with professionals in the field. Their engagement reflected both a commitment to learning and a clear vision for their future careers.

The summit offered interactive opportunities to introduce students to various healthcare roles and their impact on patient care. Through guided, hands-on experiences, participants gained a deeper understanding of how different professions contribute to improving both mental and physical health outcomes.
A key component of the experience included a collaborative digital research presentation. Students were grouped with peers from other institutions and assigned scholarly articles such as Experiences With Prenatal Care Delivery Reported by Black Patients With Low Income and by Health Care Workers in the U.S.: A Qualitative Study and Household Disorder and Blood Pressure in Mother-Child Dyads: A Brief Report. Each group analyzed its assigned research and developed a visual poster that highlighted the study’s purpose, key findings, and broader significance.

Students then delivered a seven-minute presentation, clearly communicating their analysis and answering questions from the judges. Each participant contributed to both the presentation and discussion, demonstrating a strong grasp of the material and the ability to engage in academic dialogue.
This experience provided an important opportunity for Miles College students to expand their knowledge, strengthen their professional networks, and continue developing as future healthcare leaders.
