Miles College Professor Serving as 2025 President of the National Association of African American Honors Programs
Miles College is celebrating the achievements of Dr. Angelia Le’Dawn Brooks, Associate Professor in the Division of Business and Accounting, who is serving as the 2025 President of the National Association of African American Honors Programs (NAAAHP).
Dr. Brooks’ presidency marks a historic milestone for the organization, as she is the first NAAAHP alumna to serve as president in the association’s more than 30-year history. Her leadership reflects a commitment to honors education and dedication to advancing academic excellence and student success for scholars nationwide.
A proud native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Dr. Brooks graduated from Rufus King International High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miles College, where her academic foundation was shaped by rigor, discipline, and service. She later earned a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from Samford University. Dr. Brooks also completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Management with a concentration in Finance and a Master of Philosophy in Management from Walden University.
Dr. Brooks has served on the NAAAHP leadership team for more than a decade, contributing to the organization’s growth, programming, and national impact. Most recently, she presided over the NAAAHP annual conference held last month, where educators, administrators, and honors professionals from across the country convened to discuss student achievement, institutional innovation, and the future of honors education at historically Black colleges and universities and other minority-serving institutions. The conference further underscored NAAAHP’s continued focus on collaboration, scholarship, and leadership development under Dr. Brooks’ guidance.
In addition to her national leadership, Dr. Brooks continues to make an impact at Miles College. As an Associate Professor, she mentors students, advances scholarship, and supports academic excellence within the Division of Business and Accounting. She is also helping lead and shape the inaugural cohort of the Miles College Graduate School, contributing to the institution’s expansion into graduate-level education and reinforcing its commitment to preparing students for advanced professional and academic pathways.
Dr. Brooks’ service as NAAAHP President and her leadership at Miles College underscore the caliber of the institution’s faculty and its continued investment in academic excellence, leadership development, and national engagement.
Miles College congratulates Dr. Brooks on this distinguished achievement and recognizes the continued impact of her leadership on students, faculty, and the broader honors education community.
