Outside the Classroom
Leadership is learned by doing, and you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice. These hands-on experiences help you develop your leadership style, build confidence, and create a network of mentors and peers who’ll support your professional growth.
Take on leadership roles in student organizations — among them, Enactus, an international non-profit that brings together students with academic and business leaders with the goal of using entrepreneurship to improve the lives of people in need. You can also join the nationwide Future Business Leaders of America and may be invited to join the honor society Delta Mu Delta.
Learn on the job. Miles Management students have many opportunities for internships — including for-credit, supervised internships — where you work alongside experienced managers.
Attend workshops and seminars with business leaders who share insights from the field.
Course Highlight
Strategic Management
This course teaches you how companies plan for the future—and how they make their plans happen. You’ll look at the role of a day-to-day manager, or “line manager,” who helps turn big ideas into real results. You’ll also study how organizations are influenced by people, technology, and the outside world — customers, competitors, and society. Along the way, you’ll discuss social responsibility and business ethics, learning how to make decisions that are not only profitable, but also fair and responsible.
