Quality Enhancement Plan

What is a QEP?

A QEP is a focused plan that engages the entire Miles College community – students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni and trustees – in addressing a well-defined and focused topic that contributes to institutional improvement through strengthening student learning.

Why does Miles College need a QEP?

Miles College is preparing for our reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of

Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The QEP is a significant component of the reaffirmation process and is designed to demonstrate the institution's capacity to address significant issues and aspirations.  Miles College is taking this opportunity to challenge ourselves to improve, to enhance the quality of student learning, and to add value to the institution and to the students it serves.

What is Miles College QEP focus?

The QEP Topic is “Enhancing Reading Through Metacognition" and focuses on enhancing reading skills using metacognition – “thinking about thinking”. Utilizing this strategy with reading and studying course materials can ultimately improve long-term academic performance.
