Miles College Supporters Spring to the Financial Aid of Seven Graduating Seniors
Birmingham Couple Tom L. and Barbara Pitts Larkin Awards a Financial Gift of $22,000.00 – Which Eliminated the Outstanding Balances of Seven Miles College Graduating Seniors and Increased 2020 Graduation Rate
Birmingham, AL –Miles College is honored to announce that one of its distinguished Alumnus Tom Larkin (Class of 1973) and his wife, Barbara Pitts Larkin, made an enormous investment in the lives of seven Miles College graduating seniors, by awarding a financial gift of $22,000.00 which eliminated their outstanding fall semester balances. The generous act will increase Miles College 2020 graduation rate. 
“Miles College is honored that Tom and Barbara Larkin made this generous financial gift benefitting seven of our students,” said Miles College President Bobbie Knight.  “It’s a good feeling to experience the contribution of Miles College Alums coming to the aid of our students during these unprecedented times,” states President Knight.
Tom and Barbara Larkin have dedicated their lives to the Birmingham area and they both are strong advocates for the education of young people.  Tom Larkin is a prominent personal injury attorney and his wife, Barbara Larkin is a Retired Administrator of Auburn University.  
“Miles College has paved the way and continues to pave the way for many African-Americans and other ethnic groups across this country, who desire and deserve a quality education” states Attorney and Miles College Alum Tom L. Larkin.  “The purpose of a quality education is to impart knowledge; but most importantly, to build a person’s self-esteem and confidence, which made our decision to make a financial gift to these seven Miles College Graduating seniors very easy,” declared Retired Administrator of Auburn University Barbara Larkin.   “Together, we pray that this small, but needed financial gift will ignite a fire within these seven soon to be Miles College Alumni to give back to this great institution” expressed Tom and Barbara Larkin.

About Barbara & Tom Larkin
Barbara Pitts Larkin holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Juris Doctorate from Antioch School of Law (now the University of the District of Columbia).  She is president of the Pitts Family Foundation.  Barbara’s distinguished career has been in Institutional Advancement/Development at the university level.
Tom L. Larkin is a graduate of Miles College (1973) and Cumberland School of Law, Samford University (1976).  He was an Assistant Professor at Cumberland School of Law 1979-1980.  He is the principal in The Larkin Law Firm, P.C.
