Position Description

TITLE Director of Development

CLASSIFICATION Exempt

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Senior Vice President for Institutional Advancement 

GENERAL FUNCTION

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree is required.

The Director of Development holds primary responsibility for Planned Giving-- gifts of estates, trusts, and various other and financial venues that reflect financial planning and deferred giving opportunities. The Director of Development is also responsible for the securing and stewardship of the portfolio of gifts under $10,000 to include management of the College giving societies program. Helps the College meet fundraising goals by having a thorough understanding of and ability to communicate current capital projects, needs for endowments, College gifts, College campaigns, and giving programs available through the College, and the advantages of membership in various gift recognition societies.

At least three years of proven successful professional experience in a non-profit fundraising enterprise is required, preferably in higher education development.  Background in law or financial planning is preferred.
