Miles College Division of Education is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and collegial Director of Field Experience and Clinical Practice with a strong commitment to the mission of theDivision and College. The Division of Education offers programs for teacher education that meet the Alabama State Department of Education teacher certification requirements. Programs include: Early Childhood Grades P-3, Elementary Education, Music Education (Instrumental), and Secondary Education (Biology/Biology Education, Biology/General Education, Chemistry/Chemistry Education, English/English Education, History/General Social Science and Mathematics/Mathematics Education). In addition, The Division also offers courses in instructional technology, physical education and health.
The selected candidates will support student success through the application and understanding of materials, pedagogies, assessment methods and feedback techniques that are effective within a diverse population. They will also collaborate with faculty and staff in the Division of Education as well as other units on campus to develop strategies to increase student participation. Student retention is an essential part of the job.
Required Qualifications:Alabama Teacher License
Doctorate Degree in Education or closely related area
Minimum 3-5 Years’ Experience in P-12 schools
Prefer experience in Field Experience in P-12 schools
Effective supervision and/or coaching skills
Computer Skills (Blackboard, TK20, Microsoft Office)
Ability to work with others and Follow Directions
Essential Job Functions: (1) Maintain strong communications with all involved in the field and clinical experience, (2) Assisting in the development of handbooks and website, (3) Coordinate field experience placements in P-12 schools, (4)Serve as liaison to schools and district personnel on issues related to field and clinical experiences, (5) Facilitate resolutions involving student and field-related issues in collaboration with program coordinators, division chairperson and other partners, (6) Teach ED449 (Senior Seminar), Teach 450 (Observation and Teaching) and other courses that the college may deem necessary, (7) Preparing students for the EdTPA assessment and assist in the submission of all related documents, (8) Work closely with Data Manager to maintain field and clinical data, and prepare annual reports as required, (8) Serve as sponsor for cloaking programs, (9) Keep a log on daily activities, and (10) Work closely with the Division of Education home office.
