Reading Instructor, Developmental Courses
Miles College is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and collegial full-time Reading instructor with a strong commitment to the mission of the college. The successful candidate will teach primarily developmental Reading courses. The instructor will support student success through the application and understanding of materials, pedagogies, assessment methods and feedback techniques that are effective within a diverse population. Collaboration with faculty and staff in the Reading Department and other units to develop strategies to increase student persistence and retention is an essential part of the job. The successful candidate will also participate in professional development experiences, keep abreast of research, developments in pedagogy and methodology in teaching developmental Reading, and participate in college committees. Instructor must also maintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist students.
- Master’s degree or higher and at least 18 graduate hours in Reading
- Previous teaching experience in developmental Reading
- Experience teaching at the postsecondary level
- Strong written and oral communication skills in Reading
- Must have the ability to work with diverse populations
- Computer skills
- Strong organizational and management skills
