CORONAVIRUS ACTION PLAN UPDATE
April 7, 2020
You are truly missed on your beautiful Miles College campus! We hope your second week of alternative instruction on our virtual campus is going well. During this unprecedented time, we understand that students and families have questions related to account balances, refunds and prorated adjustments for housing and meal charges.
The College required all students be checked out of all residence halls by Sunday, March 22 as the College extended its virtual instruction platform for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester.
As a result, Miles will prorate housing and dining charges for all eligible residential students. The Office of Business and Fiscal Affairs is working with the Financial Aid Department to determine the refund eligibility of students on individual basis.
- The College considers March 22 the last service date for housing and meal plan adjustment calculations.
- Resident student accounts will be adjusted using the respective spring 2020 semester rate per individual resident based on their number of unused nights and the specific rate for the residence hall in which they lived.
Students who receive institutional funds for their room and board – including student-athletes, Academic scholarships, and Residential Advisers and others – may not be eligible for this credit.
As we continue to work remotely, we expect to complete CREDIT ADJUSTMENTS to all resident student accounts by May 15th. Refundable credits will be process within 14th days of the credit balance.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through new processes and details as quickly as possible. Please know that we continue to put our students first. And while your on-campus experience may have been shorter this semester, we hope to see you back this summer or in the fall. Like President Knight, I am continually amazed by the will of the Golden Bear community. There has been no shortage of support for one another, patience as we navigate these unprecedented circumstances and perseverance to keep our College moving forward.
