To My Fellow Mileans:   It gives me great honor to represent you and this profound institution as your Miss Miles College 2007-2008. Without a doubt, I know you have begun your journey on the right foot because you have chosen Miles to be your stepping stone to success. Miles will push you to reach your full potential, and allow you to become an outstanding leader to help give back to your community. Miles College has over 100 years of shared visionaries who saw educated leadership as the paramount need in the Black community. Miles College is one of few HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges or Universities) which has a liberal admissions policy. This policy allows students with wide-ranges of academic, cultural, and economic backgrounds, the opportunity to be molded into leaders of the world. The liberal admissions policy opens the door for a diverse group of individuals to experience a rich heritage.

Here at Miles, students experience successful and rewarding challenges from matriculation to graduation. One thing that I personally stress to each of you is time management. Unfortunately, once you begin college you no longer have your mother, father, or guardian constantly reminding you to get things done; it’s all on YOU! Therefore, I challenge you to strive to MAKE GOOD CHOICES! You are not so much on your own as you are on your honor.

Time is filled with quick transition and life with fleeting moments. Yes, you may be a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, but it won’t be that way forever. Therefore I say welcome. You should be proud that you have made the right decision first of all to attend college; secondly, be proud you chose Miles. So begin your journey as a Milean and remember that the decisions you make in life, ultimately determine your destiny!
