Entertainment at the Acropolis

The 2010 President's Scholarship Ball, "An Evening at the Acropolis" will be the premier event in the Magic City.  Prepare to be amazed at the extraordinary talents of our students.  Their skills will be showcased in the areas of music, dance and the arts.  The neon lights of Broadway will shine bright at the Acropolis.

To make this event spectacular, we have recruited veteran journalist Roy Hobbs and Milean and local rhythm and blues singer Jaafar. Find out more about them below.

Entertainment - Jaafar

Jaafar embraces his struggle as a testament to how faith can overcome. Through his music, Jaafar expresses both the joys and pain relationships and love can bring. Born October 8, 1985 in Birmingham, Alabama, Jaafar was faced with the difficulties of sometimes even being without water and electricity. Jaafar lived through painful years of family turmoil by writing poetry, singing in his baptist church choir, and singing/playing in local bands. As he grew older, time got even tougher, culimnating on a later November night in 2007 when he survived a near-fatal car accident. Since then he has overcome the woes and pain of relationships to record and perform his real life struggle on stage. After hooking up with former bandmate "Slick" of So Fo Real Productions, Jaafar established his niche in the soul music industry with his release "Travel Light", summarized by Jaafar as his "life in 13 tracks."
