DIRECTED OBSERVATION & STUDENT TEACHING

All education majors are required to enroll in ED 450. ED 450 is student internship which is the most intensive and extensive practicum required for all early childhood/elementary and secondary majors. The student-internship program provides the student opportunities to interpret and synthesize theory through a variety of realistic, planned experiences in the school and community. It is an opportunity for the student to assume increasing responsibility for guiding the experiences of a group of learners for a period of twelve weeks, or the number of weeks determined by the State Department of Education on a full-time basis in a cooperative school. Student Internship is only offered during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Students who plan to enroll in student internship must file an application in the Division of Education office the semester prior to the student internship. To be eligible for student teaching, students must meet the following requirements:
